In my opinion there’s only one perk to the hot, humid and sticky summer weather – FIREFLIES! When the sun starts to go down and the humidity is high, that’s the perfect time to see the beautiful flicker of these amazing insects. Just about every kid wants to catch ’em and keep them as pets in a jar. But we all know how that ends. Instead, build them a nice place to hang out for a few hours – like a five star firefly hotel. This firefly craft is what childhood memories are made of – and it doesn’t harm these beautiful creatures of summer.
Upcycled Firefly Hotel
Supplies
- 1 glass jar and lid
- glow-in-the-dark paint pens
- 1 paper towel
- grass and twigs
- 4-6 firefly guests
- hammer + nail Nail Directions Remember, the FIREFLY HOTEL is only intended for a short visit. Welcome your glowy guests at dusk and then set them free just before turning in for the night. That’s plenty of time to watch them glimmer through the glass.
