What You Will Need:
An empty picture frame. Thrift stores and garage sales always have empty picture frames at reasonable prices. I got mine from a garage sale.
Sheet music or other recycled paper
A recycled envelope
Scissors
Pencil and pen
Hot glue/hot glue gun
Buttons
A scrap piece of paper for a pattern for your petals. I used paint chips that I had from my Paint Chip Magnets project.
Tape
Twine. If you can, use hemp twine— it’s more eco-friendly.
How To Do It:
Make your paper flowers by following the Recycled Paper Mother’s Day Brooch tutorial. The only difference is that you won’t add the brooch pin. In order to make the smaller flower, make your petals smaller.
Hot glue your paper flowers to your picture frame. I hot glued them in the bottom right corner of my frame.
For the “welcome” part, you are going to make a small version of a pennant bunting. Take your recycled envelope and draw out 7 triangles like this:
Then, cut them out. 4. With a marker, write a letter on each triangle to form the word “welcome.” 5. Then, attach your triangles to the twine by folding down the top flap and taping/gluing it to the back of the triangle. If you get confused on this part, please refer to the Happy New Year Banner tutorial (it has pictures). 6. Hot glue or tape your twine to the back of the frame. Once everything dries, you can hang your adorable picture frame wreath on your door or wall!
I love this project because it’s easy to change for each season. For Christmas, you could use red and green colors and change the greeting to “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Holidays.” For Easter, you can use pastels and add cute egg shapes– so many possibilities!
