This week on Pinterest, I saw a tutorial from Country Living on how to make a paper mache bird’s nest. I wanted to create something similar, but I wanted it to look like a real bird’s nest. I went outside and gathered some sticks off the ground and made my own decorative bird’s nest for Spring!

What You Will Need:

  1. Sticks
  2. Hot glue/hot glue gun.

How To Do It:

  1. Make the base of your bird nest by lining up thicker sticks and gluing them together like so:

  2. Start adding sticks to the top of the base in order to form a circle/oval shape. I started mine like this:

  3. Continue randomly adding sticks to the base by stacking them on top of each other. There’s no right way to do this– just have fun with it! Also, like I said in the How To: Make a Mini Christmas Tree post, remember that a little bit of hot glue goes a long way. You don’t want your bird’s nest to have an overwhelming amount of hot glue showing. As you can see from my pictures, I did not learn my lesson from that post! I have to remind myself that less is more.

Once I was finished stacking the sticks, I used some of the magazine filler I made in the Mini Easter Basket post to fill the nest:

Then, for fun, I added an egg in the nest just for a cute picture!

I love the rustic feel it gives to my side table! You could even make several of these bird’s nests for centerpieces at Easter. What would you make this bird’s nest for? Share your ideas on our Facebook wall or in the comment section below!
