All birds are welcome in my garden. I feed them. I give them water. I let them taunt my cats who eyeball them through the bay window. The only issue I have with my feathered friends is that they refuse to share the strawberries I grow in my garden. Year after year, I watch my beautiful red fruits get gobbled up – leaving me jealous and a little peeved. This year, I’ve got a plan. I’m going to trick those birdies with some decoy strawberries. Sounds a little strange, right? But I’ve been reading all about this and many home gardeners say it really does keep birds away from strawberries. And you know me, if I can work a craft project into my garden – I’m a happy crafter!

Here’s How You Use Your Decoy Strawberries
Long before your real strawberries start to ripen, place the decoys around your plant. Make sure they’re visible to the birds. The birds will think your rocks are ripened strawberries and they’ll make several attempts to eat them. Sorry guys – but these decoys ain’t so sweet! By the time your real strawberries get all plump and juicy, the birds will have become so annoyed by the decoys that they won’t even bother with your real harvest. Is that a good idea or what?!
